A Spanish Village Wedding

As I wandered around the local Spanish village Arboleas it was pointed out to me that the village market seemed small in comparison to its usual size. I was taken in by the selection of stalls and the friendliness of the market owners chatting to everyone and trying allsorts of new and unusual tastes, sometimes much to the amusement of the market sellers!

Turning a corner I noticed all the signs of a wedding – the church being prepared, groups of men in suits and ladies in all their finery. I wanted a picture of the church as it was beautiful and ended up chatting to the grandmother of the bride on the steps. The family were from Newcastle and they kindly gave me permission to take some photographs.

Not only do we as wedding planners follow the trends and styles of weddings we also consider real life aspects on weddings and marriage.

Sarah, my ever faithful assistant is getting married in less than two weeks (and I hope she does not mind my saying) for the second time.  Her statement that made me think was that she is doing things differently this time as she loves Marc and “wants” to do that little bit extra.

Peachy Keen

Help change the world by getting married!

When thinking about wedding gift lists, there are a number of places that people instantly think of; Debenhams, John Lewis…Amazon. But over the last couple of years, there has been a new entry into the gift list genre; charitable donations.

In these modern days, where couples are choosing to live together before marriage, the traditions of having a wedding list to “set up the marital home” are not always applicable. The chances are that couples deciding to wed will have already been living which each other – and will already have the majority of their home and kitchen wear. Instead, couples have started to opt for charity donations either instead of or part of a traditional gift list. Charities such as the NSPCC, Cancer Research, Oxfam Unwrapped, WSPA and Great Ormond Street Hospital all offer celebration web pages, favours and easy ways for guests to donate instead of buying you yet another set of saucepans.

Well it’s been a few weeks since my last blog – so now we are only 6 weeks from our big day, scary but exciting!! We have managed to finalise a few things, we have been to see our registrar and have discussed which vows we are using (the traditional ones) and whether we had anything we wanted to add – which we did. We have added promises to the children and also my ‘Mr Right’ and I will be lighting a candle to symbolise the beginning of our married life together.
